The Career Center is rich in content for your alumni and you may want to give them access to your platform. Wondering how to go about it? In this article, you will find out the different ways that alumni can access the platform. You can also find all our communication kits for alumni.
Regardless of the type of authentication set up to access your Career Center, we recommend that you first create an "Alumni" course/programme from the Programmes module of your Career Center (Note that only super-administrators have access to the Programmes module). Recent graduates and alumni will be able to register in this programme, which will allow you to :
- target content (events, job ads, articles) on the Alumni programme
- generate statistics on the Alumni programme
Then choose the type of authentication you want for your alumni, depending on the system set up in your Career Center for current students (see among the four possibilities below the one that suits you).
1. My Careers Center has Open Access
I can give access to the alumni simply by giving them the Career Center link, so that they can create an account
If people who should not be registered become registered, we can delete the accounts (send once a year the list of email addresses of the accounts to be deleted to your dedicated contact). We would like to reassure you, this happens very rarely and this solution is widely used by our partners.
2. My Students Log in with email domain validation (e.g. @uni.edu)
Scenario 1: Students use a University email address to log in to your Career Center, which is accessible to them for life
Alumni will be able to continue to access or register for the Career Center from the registration link.
They can change their University email address to their personal email address at any time from their Settings.
Scenario 2: Students use an University email address to log into your Career Center, which they lose after a period of time
For students who already have an account in your Career Center, we invite you to communicate with them to change their University address to their personal address in their Settings.
For newly enrolled students, you can open the Career Center to everyone for a given period of time (for example: 1 week, 1 month, etc.). To do this, contact your Success Manager and tell him/her the start and end days of this opening to all. You can then tell alumni to create an account during this period.

3. My Students Log in via SSO
Scenario 1: Alumni are kept in our database in the same way as our students
In this case, the transition is transparent and nothing changes.
Scenario 2: Students leave the SSO database but still have an alumni email address
The solution is to use an email domain validation. Only users with an University address will be able to receive the email allowing them to authenticate.
- Advantages: Quick to set up, user control at registration
- Disadvantages: Alumni will have to generate their own password on the platform to login
For students who already have an account on your Career Center, we invite you to contact them so that they can modify their email address in their settings.
Scenario 3: Alumni no longer have a University address
The solution will be to not set up any filtering and to leave the Career Center freely accessible via a specific link for alumni.
- Advantages: Quick to set up
- Disadvantage: The Career Center will be open to all kind of email domains when clicking on "login with external email"
For students who already have an account on your Career Center, we invite you to contact them so that they can change their e-mail address in their settings.
